Our Favorites for Everyday Use
Essential oils are highly concentrated plant extracts derived from the bark, flowers, fruit, leaves, seeds, or roots of plants. Even a single drop can contain the powerful natural compounds found within the plant itself.
Most essential oils are created through a process called distillation, where steam separates the oil from the plant’s water-based compounds. The result is a concentrated oil with a distinctive aroma and unique properties.
In nature, these compounds help protect plants from insects, harsh environments, and disease. When used properly, essential oils allow us to benefit from many of those protective qualities.
Essential oils are composed of very small molecules that can be absorbed through the skin and inhaled through the respiratory system. Because of their potency, they should generally be diluted with a carrier oil, such as coconut oil, almond oil, or olive oil, before applying to the skin.
Below are a few of our favorite essential oils for everyday use.
Clove oil is known for its strong antibacterial and antioxidant properties. It is commonly used to support oral health and may help freshen breath when used in small amounts in natural toothpaste.
Cypress oil is often used to support circulation and healthy blood flow. It is also known for its refreshing aroma and is sometimes used in massage oils to support muscle and skin health.
Eucalyptus oil is widely used to support respiratory health. Its refreshing scent can help open the airways and is commonly used during times of congestion, seasonal allergies, or sinus discomfort.
Frankincense has been valued for centuries for its calming and grounding aroma. It is often used to support immune health, promote relaxation, and support healthy skin.
Ginger essential oil is known for its warming properties. It is often used to support digestion, reduce feelings of nausea, and help soothe sore or stiff joints.
Grapefruit oil has a bright, uplifting scent that can help boost mood and energy. It is also commonly used in massage blends and skincare routines.
Lavender is one of the most versatile and widely used essential oils. It is known for its calming properties and is often used to support relaxation, improve sleep, and soothe minor skin irritations.
Lemon oil has a fresh, clean scent and is commonly used in natural cleaning products. It also has natural antibacterial properties and can help purify surfaces and the air.
Because essential oils are highly concentrated, always dilute them with a carrier oil before applying them to the skin. Start with small amounts and pay attention to how your body responds.
When used responsibly, essential oils can be a simple and natural way to support everyday wellness.
Small daily practices—from using essential oils to improving nutrition and reducing toxins—can help support a healthier lifestyle.
